07 Yorkshire Evenings & Writing Festivals
Not to brag, but it was the most perfect evening here last night in Yorkshire.
I was at such peace: I walked my dog through fields ready to be harvested, surrounded by the glorious countryside; neighbours murmuring in the garden next door; the International Space Station flying above very clearly, as it has each night recently, with the calm sound of nothing in the night air. Maybe the occasional late-night tractor zooming past (no joke, they can be quick!).
The air is so clean and fresh. I still can’t quite believe how lucky I am to call this place a second home when I see my family. I can see greenery. There’s colour everywhere. At night, many more stars glow.
But what brings me to Yorkshire this time (apart from my family, of course)?
This week is the Harrogate Theakston Peculier Crime Writing Festival and I am buzzing! The lineup is full of stellar names in crime writing that you’ve probably heard of, including Lee Child, Lisa Jewell, Val McDermid, Ann Cleeves, Ruth Ware and more. My favourites including TM Logan, Shari Lapena and Louise Candlish are set to be there too! Let’s see if I can get some books signed… how many is too many?!
Not only are there author talks, but activities including author dinners, quizzes, performances and Creative workshops – yep, I’ve got my name down.
They will be VERY long days for me, but I can’t wait to get stuck in!
On the writing side this week, I’m finally getting around to finishing a chapter that I’ve spoken about briefly on my Instagram. It’s a tricky one where I’m bringing strands together before planting the seed for the next turn…
Look out for my next update, most likely on the festival – and hopefully my current chapter!

I also thought I’d start an end-of-thread piece on what I’m reading or have read this week. Last weekend, I finished The Hike by Lucy Clarke ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
